چکیده

|A new approach to the design of teleoperation systems is presented. It is proposed that the teleoperation slave be a coarsene manipulator with a ne-motion wrist identical to the teleoperation master. By using a combination of position and rate control, such a system would require only small operator hand motions but would provide low mechanical impedance, high motion resolution and force feedback over a substantial volume. A new teleoperation system, consisting of a conventional manipulator and two identical magnetically levitated wrists has been developed using this approach and is described in this paper. Aspects of mechanical, system and computational design are discussed. It is shown that the best way to position the slave is by decoupling position and rate control, with the conventional robot controlled in rate mode and its wrist in position mode. Kinesthetic feedback is achieved through wrist-level coordinated force control. Transparency is improved through feedforward of sensed hand forces to the master and environment forces to the slave. To maintain stability, the amount of damping in the system is controlled by the sensed environment forces. Experimental results demonstrating excellent performance are presented.

Towards a Force-Reflecting Motion-Scaling System for Microsurgery

This paper presents design aspects of a forcere ecting, motion-scaling teleoperation system for use in microsurgery experiments. A coarse-macro-micro approach is proposed. Two magnetically levitated wrists | a macro-master and a micro-slave | would share a common base positioned at the surgical site by a coarse-motion transport robot. The discussion includes features of the proposed system, a d...

Delay-dependent stability for transparent bilateral teleoperation system: an LMI approach

There are two significant goals in teleoperation systems: Stability and performance. This paper introduces an LMI-based robust control method for bilateral transparent teleoperation systems in presence of model mismatch. The uncertainties in time delay in communication channel, task environment and model parameters of master-slave systems is called model mismatch. The time delay in communicatio...

Application of Force Feedback to Heavy Duty Hydraulic Machines

This paper presents a summary of the design and implementation of a force-reflecting controller for conventional heavy duty hydraulic machines. The unsuitability of direct force feedback with rate control has been shown analytically and confirmed on a simulator of a typical hydraulic machine. A novel stiffness control scheme was developed to circumvent this problem and was used successfully in ...

Human and Robot Integrated Teleoperation

For robot path generation, a lot of researches have been done including automatic path planning, and teaching/playback. Teleoperation is commonly used in order to control a robot from remote site, dealing with unknown environment. To increase the accuracy and the reliability of teleoperation, close interaction between human and the slave robot is required. Many force feedback devices and contro...
